What Crisp costs over 36 months

Every figure below is Crisp's own published rate, annualised and multiplied out over 36 months at 1 workspace. Where Crisp publishes no rate, the row says so instead of guessing.

Plan Charged List rate At 1 workspace 36 months
Free Free $0 $0/mo $0
Mini Flat, per month $45/mo $45/mo $1,620
Essentials Flat, per month $95/mo $95/mo $3,420
Plus Flat, per month $295/mo $295/mo $10,620

Renewal sensitivity: three scenarios, not a forecast

Nobody knows what Crisp charges in 2029. The table below is arithmetic on a rate you choose, not a prediction: it compounds the year-one total forward at 0%, 5% and 10% so you can see how much of the 36-month figure is exposed to a renewal you have not negotiated yet.

If the rateYear 1Year 2Year 3Three-year total
Held flat $540 $540 $540 $1,620
5% a year $540 $567 $595.35 $1,702.35
10% a year $540 $594 $653.40 $1,787.40

Scenario arithmetic on Crisp's own published year-one figure. Uplift rates are illustrative inputs, not observed or predicted rates.

Each line, what triggers it, and how to avoid it

Seat expansion

Stated on the pricing page: Each extra agent seat beyond plan allowance: $10/month

What triggers it. Fires when the team grows or splits into differently-priced groups. Mixed entitlements are how a single-rate assumption stops describing your invoice.

How to avoid it. Audit entitlements quarterly. On a three-year term, seats assigned to people who left are the most reliably wasted money in the whole customer support budget.

Infrastructure and hosting

Stated on the pricing page: AI credit overages on premium features

What triggers it. Triggered by data volume and deployment shape. Choosing self-hosted or a dedicated region moves this from a rounding error to a material share of the term cost.

How to avoid it. If a self-hosted option exists, price your own infrastructure and staff time against Crisp's hosted rate honestly. Self-hosting moves cost, it rarely removes it.

Tax, FX and payment processing

Stated on the pricing page: VAT not included for EU customers

What triggers it. A charge Crisp collects but does not set. It moves with your billing entity and your card, which is why two teams on the same Mini plan can see different totals.

How to avoid it. Register the correct billing entity before the first invoice, and check whether Crisp bills from a local entity. Fixing it after signature usually means credit notes, not refunds.

Trial and free-tier conversion

Derived from the published tiers: Crisp publishes a free tier. Every 36-month figure above starts from the month you leave it, not from signup.

What triggers it. Fires when free stops being free. Worth mapping precisely, because free-tier limits are where customer support tools do most of their upgrade engineering.

How to avoid it. Ask for the trial to be extended to cover a full billing cycle of real use. Vendors grant this far more often than buyers ask.

Feature gated to a higher tier

Derived from the published tiers: Moving from Mini to Plus costs a further $9,000 over 36 months at 1 workspace, which is 6.6x the entry total.

What triggers it. Fires when a requirement lands that Mini does not cover. The jump is rarely proportional: you pay the higher tier across the whole 1 workspace basis to unlock one capability.

How to avoid it. Test the gated feature during evaluation rather than trusting the comparison table. Capability names travel further than capabilities do.

How that compares across customer support and helpdesk software

The median customer support and helpdesk software tool we track charges $23.50 a month at its cheapest paid tier. Re-expressed on the same basis as the figure above, 1 workspace for 36 months, that median works out at $846.

Crisp lands $774 above that figure, 91.5%, measured across 60 tracked tools. A gap either way is a question, not a verdict: cheaper often means fewer included seats or a thinner support tier, and the fee lines below are where that difference usually reappears.

What changes at enterprise scale

Everything above prices the self-serve ladder. Enterprise sits off that ladder, which means the $1,620 figure is a floor for a large deployment rather than an estimate of one.

No dedicated enterprise tier on the public page; multi-workspace customers get 20% off the 3rd+ workspace.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Crisp cost over three years?

$1,620 on Mini at 1 workspace, billed annually, which is $45 a month held flat for 36 months. That figure covers the subscription only.

Does paying Crisp annually save money?

Crisp publishes the same effective rate either way on Mini, so there is no prepay discount to capture. Keep the monthly option unless the vendor offers something for the commitment.

What does Crisp charge for outside the plan price?

5 lines: seat expansion, infrastructure and hosting, tax, fx and payment processing, trial and free-tier conversion and 1 more. Each one is broken down above with what triggers it and how to avoid it.

Could Crisp cost more at renewal?

Possibly, and nothing on this page predicts it. If the rate held flat the three-year total would be $1,620; at a hypothetical 10% a year it would be $1,787.40. Cap the uplift in the contract and the question stops mattering.

Is Crisp expensive for customer support and helpdesk software?

Over 36 months it lands $774 above the $846 category median, measured across 60 tracked tools on the same basis.
