What Auth0 costs over 36 months

Every figure below is Auth0's own published rate, annualised and multiplied out over 36 months at 1 account. Where Auth0 publishes no rate, the row says so instead of guessing.

Plan Charged List rate At 1 account 36 months
Free Free $0 $0/mo $0
B2C Essentials Flat, per month $32/mo $32/mo $1,152
B2C Professional Flat, per month $220/mo $220/mo $7,920
B2B Essentials Flat, per month $137/mo $137/mo $4,932
B2B Professional Flat, per month $733/mo $733/mo $26,388

Billing Auth0 monthly instead of annually costs $35 a month rather than $32, a difference of $108 across the 36 months. That is the single largest lever on this page that costs nothing to pull.

Renewal sensitivity: three scenarios, not a forecast

Nobody knows what Auth0 charges in 2029. The table below is arithmetic on a rate you choose, not a prediction: it compounds the year-one total forward at 0%, 5% and 10% so you can see how much of the 36-month figure is exposed to a renewal you have not negotiated yet.

If the rateYear 1Year 2Year 3Three-year total
Held flat $384 $384 $384 $1,152
5% a year $384 $403.20 $423.36 $1,210.56
10% a year $384 $422.40 $464.64 $1,271.04

Scenario arithmetic on Auth0's own published year-one figure. Uplift rates are illustrative inputs, not observed or predicted rates.

Each line, what triggers it, and how to avoid it

Paid add-on or module

Stated on the pricing page: Auth0 for AI Agents adds 50% to base price

What triggers it. A separately-priced module. It stacks on top of the plan rate for as long as you keep it, and on a per-unit add-on it also scales with the 1 account basis.

How to avoid it. Review attached add-ons at each anniversary. Modules bought for one project keep billing long after the project ends.

Usage and overage

Stated on the pricing page: Extra enterprise SSO connections: $100/month each beyond included

What triggers it. Usage, not people, drives this. That makes it the least predictable component of a three-year Auth0 commitment and the one most worth instrumenting early.

How to avoid it. Negotiate committed-volume pricing if consumption is predictable at all. Over 36 months, a pre-committed rate beats list overage by a wide margin.

Paid add-on or module

Stated on the pricing page: M2M tokens: $30 to $1,200/month for additional tokens

What triggers it. Fires on adoption, not on signature. Auth0 prices the platform at $32 a month for 1 account and the pieces separately, which is why quoted comparisons between tools so rarely describe the same scope.

How to avoid it. Build the shortlist at like-for-like scope. Price Auth0 with the add-ons you actually need against rivals with theirs, or the $1,152 comparison is measuring different products.

Paid add-on or module

Stated on the pricing page: Enterprise MFA add-on for B2B Essentials: $100/month

Contract and commitment terms

Stated on the pricing page: Annual billing prices 11x monthly (one month free)

What triggers it. Triggered at signature. The $32 a month for 1 account rate is conditional on the commitment. Take the flexible route and the headline price is not the price you get.

How to avoid it. Read the auto-renewal and notice terms before the discount. A good rate on a contract you cannot leave is a worse deal than a fair rate on one you can.

Trial and free-tier conversion

Derived from the published tiers: Auth0 publishes a free tier. Every 36-month figure above starts from the month you leave it, not from signup.

What triggers it. The clock, not a decision, triggers this one. Auth0's free entry point ends on a date, and the $32 a month for 1 account rate starts whether or not anyone has finished evaluating.

How to avoid it. Use the trial to test the limits you will actually hit, not the features that demo well. Where the free tier stops tells you what your real Auth0 tier is.

Feature gated to a higher tier

Derived from the published tiers: Moving from B2C Essentials to B2B Professional costs a further $25,236 over 36 months at 1 account, which is 22.9x the entry total.

What triggers it. Fires when a requirement lands that B2C Essentials does not cover. The jump is rarely proportional: you pay the higher tier across the whole 1 account basis to unlock one capability.

How to avoid it. List every gated capability you will plausibly need in three years, then price Auth0 at that tier from the start. Comparing entry tiers you will not stay on is how a $1,152 plan becomes a much larger invoice.

How that compares across developer platforms, hosting, and dev tooling

The median developer platforms, hosting, and dev tooling tool we track charges $20 a month at its cheapest paid tier. Re-expressed on the same basis as the figure above, 1 account for 36 months, that median works out at $720.

Auth0 lands $432 above that figure, 60.0%, measured across 61 tracked tools. A gap either way is a question, not a verdict: cheaper often means fewer included seats or a thinner support tier, and the fee lines below are where that difference usually reappears.

What changes at enterprise scale

Everything above prices the self-serve ladder. Enterprise sits off that ladder, which means the $1,152 figure is a floor for a large deployment rather than an estimate of one.

Custom Enterprise tier required for high MAU volumes, unlimited connections, dedicated infrastructure, and 99.99% SLA. Pricing is quote-only.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Auth0 cost over three years?

$1,152 on B2C Essentials at 1 account, billed annually, which is $32 a month held flat for 36 months. That figure covers the subscription only.

Does paying Auth0 annually save money?

Yes. Monthly billing costs $35 a month against $32 on annual commitment, a difference of $108 over 36 months at 1 account.

What does Auth0 charge for outside the plan price?

7 lines: paid add-on or module, usage and overage, paid add-on or module, paid add-on or module and 3 more. Each one is broken down above with what triggers it and how to avoid it.

Could Auth0 cost more at renewal?

Possibly, and nothing on this page predicts it. If the rate held flat the three-year total would be $1,152; at a hypothetical 10% a year it would be $1,271.04. Cap the uplift in the contract and the question stops mattering.

Is Auth0 expensive for developer platforms, hosting, and dev tooling?

Over 36 months it lands $432 above the $720 category median, measured across 61 tracked tools on the same basis.
