The short answer

What Rive costs over 36 months

Every figure below is Rive's own published rate, annualised and multiplied out over 36 months at 10 seats. Where Rive publishes no rate, the row says so instead of guessing.

Plan Charged List rate At 10 seats 36 months
Cadet Per seat, per month $9/mo $90/mo $3,240
Voyager Per seat, per month $32/mo $320/mo $11,520
Enterprise Per seat, per month $120/mo $1,200/mo $43,200

The same plan at four team sizes

Rive charges per seat, so the 36-month figure scales linearly with headcount. These are Cadet totals, on annual billing, with no fees added.

Team size36-month total
5 seats $1,620
10 seats $3,240
25 seats $8,100
50 seats $16,200

Renewal sensitivity: three scenarios, not a forecast

Nobody knows what Rive charges in 2029. The table below is arithmetic on a rate you choose, not a prediction: it compounds the year-one total forward at 0%, 5% and 10% so you can see how much of the 36-month figure is exposed to a renewal you have not negotiated yet.

If the rateYear 1Year 2Year 3Three-year total
Held flat $1,080 $1,080 $1,080 $3,240
5% a year $1,080 $1,134 $1,190.70 $3,404.70
10% a year $1,080 $1,188 $1,306.80 $3,574.80

What sits outside the Rive list price

3 lines, sorted by when in the contract lifecycle they land. Lines marked as derived are arithmetic on Rive's own tier table rather than vendor prose.

Each line, what triggers it, and how to avoid it

Seat expansion

Stated on the pricing page: Voyager limits AI agent credits to $20 per seat with paid top-ups or BYO API key

What triggers it. Triggered by hiring. Every figure above is priced at 10 seats; this line is what each unit past that costs, and it compounds for the remainder of the term rather than the remainder of the month.

How to avoid it. Audit entitlements quarterly. On a three-year term, seats assigned to people who left are the most reliably wasted money in the whole interactive animation runtime budget.

Paid add-on or module

Stated on the pricing page: Enterprise gate excludes companies below $10M annual revenue

What triggers it. Fires on adoption, not on signature. Rive prices the platform at $90 a month for 10 seats and the pieces separately, which is why quoted comparisons between tools so rarely describe the same scope.

How to avoid it. Build the shortlist at like-for-like scope. Price Rive with the add-ons you actually need against rivals with theirs, or the $3,240 comparison is measuring different products.

Feature gated to a higher tier

Derived from the published tiers: Moving from Cadet to Enterprise costs a further $39,960 over 36 months at 10 seats, which is 13.3x the entry total.

What triggers it. A gate rather than a fee. It costs nothing until the day it costs a full tier upgrade, and it invalidates the $3,240 figure above the moment it does.

How to avoid it. List every gated capability you will plausibly need in three years, then price Rive at that tier from the start. Comparing entry tiers you will not stay on is how a $3,240 plan becomes a much larger invoice.

How that compares across design, prototyping, and creative tools

The median design, prototyping, and creative tools tool we track charges $10 a month at its cheapest paid tier. Re-expressed on the same basis as the figure above, 10 seats for 36 months, that median works out at $3,600.

Rive lands $360 below that figure, 10.0%, measured across 18 tracked tools. A gap either way is a question, not a verdict: cheaper often means fewer included seats or a thinner support tier, and the fee lines below are where that difference usually reappears.

What changes at enterprise scale

Everything above prices the self-serve ladder. Enterprise sits off that ladder, which means the $3,240 figure is a floor for a large deployment rather than an estimate of one.

Enterprise adds subteam workspaces, custom S3 storage, $40/seat AI credits, SOC2 Type II, SSO, and a dedicated Slack channel.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Rive cost over three years?

$3,240 on Cadet at 10 seats, billed annually, which is $90 a month held flat for 36 months. That figure covers the subscription only.

Does paying Rive annually save money?

Rive publishes the same effective rate either way on Cadet, so there is no prepay discount to capture. Keep the monthly option unless the vendor offers something for the commitment.

What does Rive charge for outside the plan price?

3 lines: seat expansion, paid add-on or module, feature gated to a higher tier. Each one is broken down above with what triggers it and how to avoid it.

Could Rive cost more at renewal?

Possibly, and nothing on this page predicts it. If the rate held flat the three-year total would be $3,240; at a hypothetical 10% a year it would be $3,574.80. Cap the uplift in the contract and the question stops mattering.

What does Rive cost for a team of 25?

$8,100 over 36 months on Cadet, billed annually. Rive charges per seat, so that scales directly with headcount.
