What Mintlify costs over 36 months

Every figure below is Mintlify's own published rate, annualised and multiplied out over 36 months at 1 account. Where Mintlify publishes no rate, the row says so instead of guessing.

Plan Charged List rate At 1 account 36 months
Hobby Free $0 $0/mo $0
Pro Flat, per month $213/mo $213/mo $7,668
Enterprise Flat, per month Custom quote, not published n/a Custom quote, not published

Billing Mintlify monthly instead of annually costs $250 a month rather than $213, a difference of $1,332 across the 36 months. That is the single largest lever on this page that costs nothing to pull.

1 tier is sales-led (Enterprise), so it carries no figure here.

Renewal sensitivity: three scenarios, not a forecast

Nobody knows what Mintlify charges in 2029. The table below is arithmetic on a rate you choose, not a prediction: it compounds the year-one total forward at 0%, 5% and 10% so you can see how much of the 36-month figure is exposed to a renewal you have not negotiated yet.

If the rateYear 1Year 2Year 3Three-year total
Held flat $2,556 $2,556 $2,556 $7,668
5% a year $2,556 $2,683.80 $2,817.99 $8,057.79
10% a year $2,556 $2,811.60 $3,092.76 $8,460.36

Scenario arithmetic on Mintlify's own published year-one figure. Uplift rates are illustrative inputs, not observed or predicted rates.

Each line, what triggers it, and how to avoid it

Usage and overage

Stated on the pricing page: AI credit overages billed at $0.01 per credit

What triggers it. Usage, not people, drives this. That makes it the least predictable component of a three-year Mintlify commitment and the one most worth instrumenting early.

How to avoid it. Ask Mintlify for hard caps or alerting rather than silent overage billing. A limit that stops work is recoverable; an invoice you did not authorise is not.

Contract and commitment terms

Stated on the pricing page: Annual discount only applies with yearly commit

What triggers it. Triggered at signature. The $213 a month for 1 account rate is conditional on the commitment. Take the flexible route and the headline price is not the price you get.

How to avoid it. Price both routes before choosing. Committing three years to Mintlify for a discount is only rational if your developer docs requirement is genuinely stable that long.

Unpublished pricing

Derived from the published tiers: 1 of 3 Mintlify tiers publish no price (Enterprise). No total on this page includes them.

What triggers it. Opacity rather than expense. It may cost nothing; the point is that neither you nor this page can currently tell, and a three-year commitment deserves better than that.

How to avoid it. Ask for it in writing, itemised, before shortlisting. A vendor that will not put a number on a component at evaluation stage rarely gets more forthcoming after signature.

Trial and free-tier conversion

Derived from the published tiers: Mintlify publishes a free tier. Every 36-month figure above starts from the month you leave it, not from signup.

What triggers it. The clock, not a decision, triggers this one. Mintlify's free entry point ends on a date, and the $213 a month for 1 account rate starts whether or not anyone has finished evaluating.

How to avoid it. Ask for the trial to be extended to cover a full billing cycle of real use. Vendors grant this far more often than buyers ask.

How that compares across docs, wiki, and knowledge base software

The median docs, wiki, and knowledge base software tool we track charges $28.50 a month at its cheapest paid tier. Re-expressed on the same basis as the figure above, 1 account for 36 months, that median works out at $1,026.

Mintlify lands $6,642 above that figure, 647.4%, measured across 12 tracked tools. A gap either way is a question, not a verdict: cheaper often means fewer included seats or a thinner support tier, and the fee lines below are where that difference usually reappears.

What changes at enterprise scale

Everything above prices the self-serve ladder. Enterprise sits off that ladder, which means the $7,668 figure is a floor for a large deployment rather than an estimate of one.

Enterprise adds SSO, custom contracts, and dedicated support; pricing is custom.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Mintlify cost over three years?

$7,668 on Pro at 1 account, billed annually, which is $213 a month held flat for 36 months. That figure covers the subscription only.

Does paying Mintlify annually save money?

Yes. Monthly billing costs $250 a month against $213 on annual commitment, a difference of $1,332 over 36 months at 1 account.

What does Mintlify charge for outside the plan price?

4 lines: usage and overage, contract and commitment terms, unpublished pricing, trial and free-tier conversion. Each one is broken down above with what triggers it and how to avoid it.

Could Mintlify cost more at renewal?

Possibly, and nothing on this page predicts it. If the rate held flat the three-year total would be $7,668; at a hypothetical 10% a year it would be $8,460.36. Cap the uplift in the contract and the question stops mattering.

Is Mintlify expensive for docs, wiki, and knowledge base software?

Over 36 months it lands $6,642 above the $1,026 category median, measured across 12 tracked tools on the same basis.
